I have loved writing my blog every few days/everyweek and feel so lucky to have technology that allows me to do so. I know that it gets boring for some of you to check in. But I am still appreciative of those who do. Believe me when I tell you that you guys are always on my mind and I write to carry the conversation with you. It keeps me sane and makes me feel connected to you somehow.
Today it was brought to my attention that I am offending individuals with the content of my blog. So I will be moving this blog to private viewing as to avoid unnecessary distractions. I am so sorry if this causes added work on all of our parts. Some of you may be regular readers. But if I dont have your email addresses, you will no longer be able to view the contents. Just message me with your information and i will try to get it available to you.

Let me just say that I enjoy the open, raw, and honest insights you put on here. Your Web Log/Journal is something I enjoy reading. To me, you being yourself, rough edges and all, makes your blog so much more real.
ReplyDeleteBy being 100% yourself, airing your triumphs, frustrations, and daily life, you make what you're doing over there so much more authentic, at least to me. You're human, you have feelings, make mistakes, that you put them online shows how genuine you are.
I can get biblical on you, too. Paul in Romans admits that he isn't perfect, that he has made mistakes, and that he struggles DAILY. Heck, in most of his letter he calls himself the chief sinner. A lot of people think Paul was perfect (even in his own time) but he makes it clear that he is far from it. And God used him mightily in spite of his flaws. I think God is using you in a similar way. You have some rough edges, sure, but let's be honest, we are ALL imperfect. God is bigger than us and can use us in spite of ourselves, it's what makes Him so awesome.
Keep up the truly good work you are doing, and feel free to air whatever is going on in whatever fashion you please. I personally love every minute!
"Here! Here!" Todd.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who is being "offended", but they can suck it up and realize that it is only a very elite portion of humanity that has the privilege to not be exposed to famine, abuse, disease, and strife on a minute by minute basis.
If the offended fall into that portion who is not daily exposed to these horrors, then they not only have the responsibility to be educated, but also to act, rather than to censor.

Can't believe that someone would be offended by what you have written. Shae, We are so proud of you and what you are doing there. We love reading your blog because it is so real, not just fluff and good things. Maybe that person doesn't want to accept the real world of reality! Please don't listen to such shallow complaints. Those of us who love you read your blog because it is so real and show you in all your human feelings and needs. Thank you for what you do there and allowing us to glimpse the reality of your world there! Keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteI am completely bewildered by someone being offended by what you have written or the pictures you have posted. Who is being forced to go to this site and read against their will? Please keep writing your way and keep providing us glimpses of your world as you are experiencing it.
ReplyDeleteSo here's a thought... if someone is offended... they really just need to stop reading. Wouldn't that make sense? I truly appreciate the reality check and wish there were more we could do.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else in their affirmation of your openness and honesty of the reality and hardship that is so real at Cradle. The only thing offensive to me is that you are apologizing for someone else's immaturity. If I wanted a nice happy picture of what an orphanage is like, I'd watch Annie. But I want an honest picture of what it is like for these children, and for you as you minister to them. And I love that you have given us that. As disturbing as it was, I'm glad that you posted that picture of Pendo (the original one). I felt that I got a deeper understanding of what life is like there. I understand your reasons for not dwelling on those situations, but it is good for us to be aware of them. There is no other honest Christian response to the reality of those children than an uncomfortable and gut-wrenching sadness. Do you think God's heart is not broken by Pendo? O that we all would be moved by such images to not cry out for censorship, but to cry out for mercy and to do our part in bringing that mercy!
ReplyDeleteIt occurs to me that millions of people tune in to reality TV and are not offended by it in the least. On the contrary, they seek more of it. What you are sharing with us is TRUE reality. It is these children's day to day lives. Good or Bad, it is what it is. I would hope that as human beings, and maybe even Christians, that those offended would be praying or looking for ways to help rather than judging you or your blog. How immature and incencitive. As I have been saying about you for the past few months. You are doing God's work & this is really angering Satan. Don't allow Satan to derail your mission. Stand strong knowing that God has a full army of prayer warriors standing guard. We love you and can't wait for your next posting.
ReplyDeleteKiss a few babies for us tonight. God Bless!
